Are we giving people what they need?
I do not live in a vacuum. I realize that everyone is being asked to do more and more, so today rather than offering tips, I’m asking an important question, one that needs our collective heads put together.
According to Gallup, the strongest driver of employee engagement and the lowest rated behavior is weekly meaningful feedback.
This research did not target broadcast companies specifically, but is absolutely in alignment with research presented by Fred Jacobs at Morning Show Boot Camp every year. Personalities are not getting the feedback they want.
So here’s my question: How do we reconcile the situation? At a time when employee engagement is declining, employees aren’t getting what they need, and managers are spread too thin to give it – what are we supposed to do (besides hire a talent coach)?
It’s the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results.
Have you or your station come up with any real solutions?
Or, are you getting feedback but it’s not helpful?
How do we keep showing up?
