Real-world examples of creative, connective content
Creativity and connection take many forms. So many different types of ideas came my way this week that I decided to showcase them here. And because it’s easy to get down about the state of radio sometimes, it’s fun to be reminded of the moving, silly and creative variety of content we continue to produce, every single day!
As always, inspiration from other shows can be copied (which is fine and everyone does) or, even better, it can spark an even more unique angle - one that fits YOU and your show.
I may have never said this, but the content I find for this newsletter comes from me just foraging around socials throughout the week. If you ever have something you’d like to share with other shows in this email, always feel free to send along!
Jenny from the Dave Ryan Show opened up about her decision to go on medication for her anxiety. Watch her talk about it and check out all the heartfelt comments on Instagram, here.
Mother’s Day bit you can steal for Father’s Day - Guess the punchline of cheesy drugstore cards. Watch here.
The Wolf in Seattle does a social experiment to give away backstage passes: Walk down the line to get in with a blank envelope to see who will take it (most people won’t). Watch here.
Kudos to Chase Hussey for taking me up on my challenge to create a diss track. Keeping it positive, his rap defended his mom’s chocolate chip cookie baking prowess.
Here’s another great Mother’s Day bit from Chum 104.5 that could be adapted for another time of year. The morning host’s adult son, Adam, tries to wrangle the station’s other personalities’ kids (much younger) to do the show so the moms could have a day off. Great content for socials – here.
Vinny and Shannon take a caller on the topic of “worst Mother’s Day gifts” and turned it into an emotional, memorable break, here.
